API 5L Carbon steel seamless pipes include normal weight and extra heavy threaded line tubing; and standard plain end weight, regular plain end weight, special plain-end, extra-strong plain-end, special plain-end, extra-strong plain-end pipe; as well as bell and spigot and pipe through-the-flow line(TFL). We make these API seamless pipes in many grades, which are, grade B, grade X46, Grade X52, Grade X60, X65, and more. The two-digit number followed by “X” denotes the minimum yield strength of pipes produced of these grades. This grade aims to provide specifications for pipes suitable for use in both the oil and gas industries in the transportation of gas, water, and oil.

The Standards Authoring Technical Committee agreed that there are two basic Product Specifications Levels (PSL) of technical requirements, and thus are termed as PSL 1 and PSL 2. PSL 1 is a normal line pipe density where additional chemical, mechanical properties, and testing specifications are found in PSL2.
